WebQuest
Today I am substituting in a 6th Grade classroom. The students are using a WebQuest to learn about Eqypt. I just thought this was really cool to see it in use in a classroom and the students learning from it. I really liked looking at everyones WebQuests in class and I bet they will all work well in the classroom

Yeah, I think they take a long time to create and require a lot of thought on the part of the teacher, but I think that they are really fun for the students. I will definitely use them in my classroom, but because of how time consuming they are to make, I will not be using them in every lesson!
I would think they would lend themselves nicely to units that are shared between classes. "My" observation class at Harris Hill has been working with a neighboring 4th grade class on Native American legends, and the classes split between the two teachers for a science unit, too. I think if this happens in other classes, the two teachers could split the work of devising a couple of webQuests for the year. I think if you do too many of them, they won't be as entertaining for the kids, eventually.
I have a question. Do you feel like the webquests actually resulted in the kids actually learning anything? Or do you think it's one of those things that'll go in the brain and out the next week? I'm curious.
